The Teed & Brown Name, Logo and Tagline are all registered marks of Teed & Brown Inc.,

Red Thread usually occurs in the springtime when nights are cooler and days are warmer. It thrives under wet, low fertility conditions. These conditions tend to coincide during the rainy spring weather when the excess water dilutes the fertilizers and causes rapid growth in the plants. The rapid growth uses the available nutrients quickly, which then allows for the fungus to thrive.

It gets its name from the reddish appearance of the fungus itself. Luckily, this disease is very minor, and usually grows out on its own with an additional application of fertilizer. Only in extreme, rare cases is a fungicide application warranted.
